PULL THE PLUG ON STATIC ELECTRICITY IN YOUR HAIR
PART 1
In most cases people think it’s their hair brush that causes static but it’s a combination of elements that create those frustrating flyaways.
Brushes generally don’t create static in the hair, usually damage and dryness are conditions of the hair or are caused by environmental conditions. Ever notice static is more noticeable in dry conditions? This is the REAL KEY.
The BRISTLES which are in direct contact with the hair are what matters, shape of the brush, round, square or oval does not play a role in STATIC CONTROL.
When purchasing a brush take a closer look at the type of bristles, Boar, Metal, Wood, or Plastic /Nylon bristles if your serious about solving the problem.
PLASTIC/NYLON bristles are STATIC CHARGERS! It is usually cut to a sharp edge which can scratch you scalp OUCH and create other problems.
When you see the word, ANTI STATIC like on dryer sheets and brushes, they are infused with chemicals, which solve the static issue but may create more serious health issues and if you have sensitivities that not a great choice. If you want to use static sheets use them separately on your winter scarfs.
METAL BRISTLES never a good choice for blow-drying or brushing, have you ever been ZAPPED when you touch a metal door knob during the dry winter months, that’s why we use a humidifier to prevent dryness in the air.
The BEST CHOICE for bristles is natural, like BOAR which have so many characteristics that help control static. They are able to hold natural oils and moisture (WATER) reducing negative charges that cause static, much like your hair which aids in controlling static and just like wool balls when used in clothing dryers’ same concept.
Natural boar also has the ability to be conditioned with your regular hair conditioners which are usually a lower PH and help control static. (Note nylon will not absorb anything.)
THE REAL SOLUTION is preventing these conditions that allow static in the hair.
Here are TWO MAJOR conditions of the hair that create these pre-conditions, solve these, solve it forever.
DEHYDRATION and DRYNESS both INTERNALLY and EXTERNALLY.
FACT damaged hair exhibits more negative charges more potential for static.
Ever notice that hair always looks great when it just shampooed/ conditioned but dehydrates during the day and then becomes static charged.
BOTTOM LINE while purchasing a new hair brush consider NATURAL FIBERS, if you need a stiffer bristle include a small supporting nylon bristle is fine.
